Christodoula Gavriil

Dr. Christodoula K. Gavriel is a Research Associate at the Immersive Technologies for Intelligent and Creative Applications (ITICA) MRG of the CYENS Centre of Excellence. She holds a Ph.D. in Cognitive Psychology from the Department of Psychology, University of Cyprus, for which she worked alongside Prof. Marios Avraamides. Her research interests include investigating spatial processes of human movement through behavioral methods and Virtual Reality systems. During her Ph.D. studies, she held a Special Scientist position at the Centre for Applied Neuroscience at the University of Cyprus, where she worked on the SUAVE project (Spatial updating in virtual environments) funded by the Cyprus Research and Innovation Foundation (RIF). The project investigated how different locomotion techniques in Virtual Reality environments, such as teleporting, can affect spatial processes. In addition to her research, she is employed as a Special Scientist at the Department of Psychology at the University of Cyprus. She is teaching the “Psychobiology” and the “Introduction to Psychology” courses in the undergraduate Psychology program. During her PhD studies, she also taught the Introduction to Psychology courses in the undergraduate Psychology program. She holds a BA in Psychology and a MA in Cognitive and Educational Psychology from the University of Cyprus.
